ON FRIDAY morning, Torquay residents awoke to see a spate of graffiti across Taylor Park, Fischer Street, Elephant Walk and Zeally Bay Road.<\/p>\n

Cars, footpaths, fences and street posts were all sprayed with a blue spray-paint can.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

On Friday Surf Coast Shire Council acting general manager of culture and community Damian Waight said the council were taking action and advised victims of vandalism to contact the police.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cCouncil officers have inspected Zeally Bay Road, Torquay, and any offensive graffiti on public facing property will be removed immediately.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cResidents whose property has been vandalised can notify the police.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The can is believed to have been taken from a nearby construction site.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The paint was a water-based solution, which is much easier to remove than oil-based spray paints.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Torquay police are investigating but have not yet charged anyone for the offence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Community Crime Prevention Victoria states that if someone sees graffiti in progress, they should phone 000. If their property has been marked, they should phone their local police station.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If people have any information about illegal graffiti offences they should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. People can do so anonymously.<\/div>\n
