LITTLE Malop Central’s chequered past is fading by the day, with the street now home to permanent musical instruments.<\/p>\n
The fixed activations are part of a sweep of works at the site and feature bongo drums, a xylophone and acoustic play elements for children and families to enjoy.<\/p>\n
Other recent upgrades at the space between Yarra and Moorabool streets include the installation of lighting, seating, planter boxes, 3D artwork and a stage.<\/p>\n
The in-ground water feature, which was dormant for several years, has also been restored.<\/p>\n
City of Greater Geelong councillor Peter Murrihy, chair of the city’s civic and central Geelong portfolio, said the latest instalment was just one of the ways the council was making Little Malop Central a more inviting place to visit.<\/p>\n
“A number of activations and minor capital works have been introduced to spruce up the area, with positive results.”<\/p>\n
The City of Greater Geelong committed $315,000 to execute the revitalisation projects following a successful notice of motion from Cr Eddy Kontelj in June of last year.<\/p>\n
