WOMEN from the City of Greater Geelong whose contributions to the region deserve acknowledgement will be honoured in the Women in Community Life Awards later this year.<\/p>\n

Nominations are now open for the annual awards, which recognise women’s achievements across five categories \u2013 First Nations Woman, Human Rights and Gender Equality, Living with a Disability, Leading Gender Equality in Sport and Leadership in Women’s Health.<\/p>\n

Each award recipient will be celebrated at the city’s International Women’s Day celebration on March 6, with Olympian and former senator Nova Peris OAM in the line-up as guest speaker.<\/p>\n

Geelong mayor Stephanie Asher said the council was proud to celebrate inspiring leaders in the Women in Community Life Awards.<\/p>\n

“The City of Greater Geelong is lucky to have many women who go to extraordinary lengths to make the community a better place for others,” Cr Asher said.<\/p>\n

“I encourage all residents to take a look at the award categories and nominate someone they know.”<\/p>\n

The recipient of the major Women in Community Life Award will be selected from the category winners by a selection panel.<\/p>\n
