A CHARMING children\u2019s story about a missing blanket was officially shared with the world at an event at Torquay last week.<\/p>\n
Missing Pinky, written by Teesdale author Juliet Williams and illustrated by Surf Coast resident Luisa Gioffre-Suzuki, celebrated its first day of publication with a reading by the author on Thursday at Torquay Library, with children bringing along their own special blankets and teddies.<\/p>\n
It tells the story of Lucy\u2019s beloved blanket, Pinky \u2013 made by her grandma \u2013 that goes missing.<\/p>\n
Lucy is desperate to find Pinky, so she looks in all the usual places and then in some more unusual places.<\/p>\n
It is Williams\u2019 second book (her first with Gioffree-Suzuki), and she said the story was based on the real-life experience of her daughter losing something precious \u2013 although the missing item in that case was a pink onesie, not a blanket.<\/p>\n
She said she wrote Missing Pinky about five years ago but had only been able to find a publisher in recent months.<\/p>\n
