ANGLESEA Motor Yacht Club (AMYC) held a series of \u201cLearn to Sail\u201d event earlier in the month.<\/p>\n

\n

The catamarans used for the day had been purchased late last year with the funds AMYC received from VicHealth\u2019s Active Clubs Grant.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

AMYC secretary Kate Stanley said the event had been very well received.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThe three days were really good. We had good weather and lots of fun sail, and they all learnt a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The grants focused on Increasing female participation in sport and increasing social and modified sport.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Ms Stanley said the program had certainly helped in these regards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cWe probably had half female, which was good because we\u2019ve also got the This Girl Can Campaign running.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

AMYC received more than $9,000 from Round 1 of the 2019-20 Active Club Grants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The event was held from January 7-9<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

There were groups for both adults and 12-17-year-olds. In both groups they were fully booked.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Ms Stanley said the positive response has emboldened the club to try and run similar events on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
