{"id":34365,"date":"2020-02-06T00:00:56","date_gmt":"2020-02-05T14:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=34365"},"modified":"2020-02-06T12:19:59","modified_gmt":"2020-02-06T02:19:59","slug":"road-improvement-works-begin-across-the-shire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/road-improvement-works-begin-across-the-shire\/","title":{"rendered":"Road improvement works begin across the shire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A SERIES of roadworks are taking place across the Surf Coast Shire, with some road closures in place. <\/p>\n<p>Bells Boulevarde in Jan Juc has closed between the Great Ocean Road and Sunset Strip for road surface improvement works. <\/p>\n<p>The works \u2013 which started on Monday this week \u2013 will be carried out daily from 7am-5pm, Monday to Friday only.<\/p>\n<p>Motorists are advised to follow signed detours, with access to Bells Beach via the Great Ocean Road and Bones Road.<\/p>\n<p>Works are weather-dependent and are expected to be completed on April 2.<\/p>\n<p>Safety works are being carried out on a section of Coombes Road, Torquay between Ghazeepore and Anglesea roads.<\/p>\n<p>The project will be completed in two stages, including:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Road reconstruction and widening from February 10, with road closure from February 17. Through traffic will be diverted via Anglesea\/Ghazeepore roads to Grossmans Road. Local traffic will have access to Coombes Road at all times.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 From about May, improvements at the intersection of Coombes and Ghazeepore roads, including new kerbing, concrete islands, lighting and raising of the road profile to improve sight lines for drivers, will begin. <\/p>\n<p>During reconstruction, Coombes Road will be closed to through traffic between about 7am-5pm on weekdays.<\/p>\n<p>It will be open between 5pm-7am on weeknights and weekends, with a 40kmh speed limit enforced. <\/p>\n<p>Stage one work is expected to be complete by mid-May, while stage-two work will be completed by mid-July.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moggs Creek<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>Works to replace the Moggs Creek bridge on the Great Ocean Road west of Fairhaven began on Monday this week. <\/p>\n<p>To allow for the safe demolition of the existing bridge, all Great Ocean Road traffic has been moved onto a single-lane Bailey bridge. <\/p>\n<p>All traffic will use the Bailey bridge for the duration of works.<\/p>\n<p>Contra-flow traffic arrangements will be in place, and there will be a reduced speed limit of 40kmh through the worksite.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic controllers will be onsite during daylight working hours and portable traffic lights will be used outside these times.<\/p>\n<p>Bridge replacement works are expected to be completed by spring.<\/p>\n<p>Real-time traffic conditions are available at <a href=\"http:\/\/traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au<\/a> or via the VicTraffic mobile app.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/regionalroads.vic.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">regionalroads.vic.gov.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A SERIES of roadworks are taking place across the Surf Coast Shire, with some road closures in place.
