TORQUAY Kindergarten is celebrating its upgraded playground.<\/p>\n
The upgrades aim to give the kinder a more natural setting with new rubber surfacing, a large deck and workbench, sandpit, water pump, and raised garden beds.<\/p>\n
Speaking at Monday’s opening, Surf Coast Shire council mayor Rose Hodge said the improvements were well thought out.<\/p>\n
“The use of natural materials fits in perfectly with Torquay’s coastal character.<\/p>\n
“I’m so pleased that children are going to climb, splash and create in this fabulous space, both now and for years to come.”<\/p>\n
The playground was a joint funding project. The council contributed $59,437 and<\/p>\n
Torquay Kindergarten’s Parent Advisory Group (PAG) $52,978. Cr Hodge said she was pleased the salvageable hardwood timber from the previous playground was repurposed in the new design.<\/p>\n
“This aligns with our recent Climate Emergency declaration and sets a good example for our young community members, who learn the value of reusing and recycling as part of their kinder education.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
