{"id":34546,"date":"2020-02-13T00:00:26","date_gmt":"2020-02-12T14:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=34546"},"modified":"2020-02-14T08:21:48","modified_gmt":"2020-02-13T22:21:48","slug":"photo-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/photo-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Photo competition showcases Surf Coast&#8217;s beauty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE winners of the Surf Coast Summer Photo Competition have been announced.<\/p>\n<p>Lucas Pardo, Phil Roache and Andy Russell had their photos selected by Surf Coast Shire council mayor Rose Hodge as the best of about 250 submissions.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Cr Hodge said the overall quality of entries was exceptional.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a difficult choice, but I was so impressed how many varied and beautiful images of the Surf Coast Shire there was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pardo said the region\u2019s beauty had inspired much of his photography.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI moved to Australia from El Salvador 33 years ago and from the moment I discovered the Surf Coast Shire, my hard drive has been full.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeeing the bushfire devastation and how vulnerable these forests are only making my photography feel more special \u2013 I want to remind people how beautiful it is here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pardo suggested that aspiring photographers head to Point Addis at Sundet for a great photo opportunity.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_34547\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-34547\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-34547\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/philroache2_83274.jpg?_t=1581632449\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-34547\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: PHIL ROACHE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fellow winner Mr Roache took his photo there and also emphasised the importance of the location.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPoint Addis is a great surfing location and needs protection and help from everyone who goes there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Russell took his photo at Jan Juc, but similarly remarked on the Surf Coast\u2019s beauty and how the area was a delight for photographers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe spectacular rock formations and richly coloured cliffs of the Surf Coast make for fabulous photo opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI couldn\u2019t wait to get down to the beach but paused momentarily at the top of the stairs to take the photo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cr Hodge said the competition\u2019s success provided a foundation for future years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue the competition and make it bigger and better next summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The winners all had their photos digitally printed on a 3mm solid board, valued at $50 each.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/AndyRussell_54778.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: ANDY RUSSELL<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE winners of the Surf Coast Summer Photo Competition have been announced.
