THE state government recently announced it would give funding to Moriac Primary School for infrastructure to make the school more accessible to people with disabilities.<\/p>\n
The money will provide ramps and toilet modifications to ensure all students and staff have the same level of access.<\/p>\n
The funding comes from the state government’s Accessible Buildings Program.<\/p>\n
Minister for Education James Merlino said he wanted schools to be equipped to educate all.<\/p>\n
“The program helps to ensure all Victorian government students of all abilities can get a great education and have access to modern, functional learning spaces to give them the best chance to succeed and thrive in school and in life.”<\/p>\n
The program also provides funding for improvements such as handrails and modifications for students with vision or hearing impairments.<\/p>\n
South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman said the aim is to prevent accessibility from being a barrier to any students.<\/p>\n
