{"id":3629,"date":"2017-12-01T07:25:38","date_gmt":"2017-12-01T07:25:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=3629"},"modified":"2017-12-11T19:32:37","modified_gmt":"2017-12-11T08:32:37","slug":"wildlife-by-the-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/wildlife-by-the-water\/","title":{"rendered":"Wildlife by the water"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Members of the Wildlife Art Society of Australasia (WASA) from across the country are showing off their latest artworks at the By the Water art exhibition and sale in Geelong for the first time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many of the artists have won major awards, with the quality and allure of the pieces on display sure to delight and intrigue anyone who views them.<\/p>\n<p>The artwork ranges from endearing images of small birds to bold representations of animals from all continents and lands from a variety of artists.<\/p>\n<p>WASA is pleased that well-known artist Brett Jarrett accepted their invitation to be the feature artist for the exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>All art mediums will be on display, with small or large pastel, mosaic, oil, watercolour, drawing or scratch-board pieces available to view.<\/p>\n<p>The 3D pieces range from modern outdoor works that could be a bold feature in any garden or courtyard, to delicate sculptures expertly carved from Huon Pine.<\/p>\n<p>The WASA is also glad to welcome Birdlife Bellarine as a partner at the exhibition, with an informative display of all things birdie, highlighting the wonderful birdlife of the Geelong region.<\/p>\n<p>There will be an event celebration on November 12, starting at 1.30pm for anyone wanting to meet the artists and enjoy a chat.<\/p>\n<p>WASA\u2019s artists not only create marvellous artworks \u2014 they\u2019re passionate about wildlife and wildlife conservation, often reflected in their beautiful artworks.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition is on now until November 19 at Geelong Art Society Gallery, located at 202 Aberdeen Street, Geelong West.
