PASSENGERS on a new bus route in Armstrong Creek are voting with their feet, with more and more people getting on board each month.
\nSouth Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman said the Victorian Government\u2019s introduction of the Route 45 service six months ago had been embraced by local passengers and helped to support the growing Armstrong Creek precinct.
\nSince it began in October 2019, more than 14,800 trips have been taken on the route, with 16 return services each day Monday to Friday, nine return services on Saturday and seven return services
\non Sunday.
\nRoute 45 creates a key connection between the Warralily Village and Waurn Ponds shopping centres, Waurn Ponds railway station, and local schools, providing those people who live in Armstrong Creek with direct and reliable transport options to connect to Greater Geelong and Melbourne.
\n\u201cThe new Armstrong Creek bus route is delivering real outcomes for our community \u2013 providing reliable public transport so that people can get to where they need to go,” Mr Cheeseman said.
\n\u201cJust six months on, we can already see the benefit that this new service brings to our region with more than 14, 800 trips already recorded.\u201d
\nRoute 45 also services Oberon High School and coincides with school bell times to allow students living in the 3217 postcode access to transport during the morning and afternoon school run.
\nThe state government says it is keeping all Victorian public transport services to support essential journeys, particularly for those employed in critical industries such as health care, supermarkets, pharmacies and education; and has implemented increased cleaning on all public transport to slow the spread of coronavirus.
\nVictorians have been reminded that there are only four reasons to leave home \u2013 for food and supplies, medical care, exercise, and work or education.
\nIf you do need to travel, avoid peak times, keep physical distance from others and practice good hand hygiene. Avoid travelling when you\u2019re unwell.
