THE Surf Coast Shire council has postponed the introduction of its planned kerbside collection as the community copes with the coronavirus pandemic.
\nThe introduction of Surf Coast Shire council\u2019s<\/a> planned new four-bin kerbside collection system, which includes a full food organics and garden organics (FOGO) service and glass-only bin service, has been postponed to February\/March 2021.
\n\u201cIn March, our community started to feel the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic and we know households are already making a lot of adjustments to adapt to this situation,\u201d the council\u2019s general manager of governance in infrastructure Anne Howard said.
\n\u201cWe didn\u2019t want to add another layer of change to their new ways of working and living.\u201d
\nThe council\u2019s waste service was expected to start from July 6, and Ms Howard said the council would continue to work with contractors to keep the project moving ahead.
\n\u201cWe remain committed to introducing the four-bin system, but feel it\u2019s not essential to make the change at this challenging time.
\n\u201cWe will circulate more information about the new waste system in coming months, when hopefully things have settled down for our community.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
