TORQUAY\u2019S town centre is set to undergo major works to provide extra parking and improve pedestrian safety.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, April 13, Labor member for South Barwon Darren Cheeseman announced the state government would contribute $500,000 towards the “Connecting Torquay\u2019s Town Centre” project as part of its Regional Infrastructure Fund.<\/p>\n

The project is planned to begin later this year. It includes formalised car parking fronting Taylor Park along Zeally Bay Road and Fisher Street, pedestrian crossings on Zeally Bay Road, Bristol Road, Gilbert Street and Pearl Street. Three cycling station points will also be installed.<\/p>\n

The total cost of the project is $800,000, with the Surf Coast Shire council providing the remaining $300,000.<\/p>\n
