BARWON Water is now undertaking essential sewer works in Torquay over the next few weeks along Zeally Bay Road and Fischer Street near Taylor Park, and has plans for works in the near future in Spring Creek near the Spring Creek Reserve.
\nSewer pipes along Zeally Bay Road and into Taylor Park will be relined as part of Barwon Water\u2019s ongoing maintenance program as it delivers its essential water and sewerage services, with works starting on Monday this week.
\nBarwon Water general manager of infrastructure and technology Shaun Cumming said the Zeally Bay Road relining would include night works to ensure no disruption to services.
\n\u201cWorks are expected to take three weeks and Taylor Park walking tracks will remain open throughout with traffic management on site where required.\u201d
\nMeanwhile, in July, a section of the sewerage main between Bowman Track and the Spring Creek Reserve will be replaced.
\nThese works are expected to take about four weeks to complete with some closures to nearby walking tracks. Alternative routes will be provided to ensure community safety and
\nminimal disruption.
\n\u201cThese works form an important part of Barwon Water\u2019s ongoing sewer maintenance program to maintain and improve our services across the region,\u201d Mr Cumming said.
\n\u201cAs part of the program, we\u2019re replacing about 150 kilometres of old and damaged pipes over five years, at a cost of about $21 million. This important ongoing maintenance program renews the mains, extending their life and minimising risk of blockages, sewer spills and improves sewerage services.\u201d
\nBarwon Water<\/a> says it will take steps to minimise any noise and possible odour impacts resulting from the works.
\nSignage and traffic management staff will be stationed at intersections and pedestrian crossings to ensure community safety.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
