THE Surf Coast Shire’s general manager of infrastructure and governance Anne Howard will step in and temporarily act as the council’s chief executive officer once Keith Baillie leaves the position at the end of July.
\nMr Baillie announced his intention to resign last month and will begin his new job as chief executive officer of Gforce Employment Solutions<\/a> in September.
\nAt their meeting last month, councillors resolved Ms Howard would serve as acting chief executive officer from August 1 until the new CEO is appointed.
\nThe council anticipates the recruitment of a new permanent chief executive officer will not occur until sometime after the new council is sworn in following October’s council election.
\nShire mayor Rose Hodge said Ms Howard\u2019s appointment to the acting role was confirmation of her skills and experience.
\n\u201cAnne has served with distinction in her current role and has acted as CEO previously. She brings many important skills to the role, including her strong foundation in governance.
\n\u201cThis will be especially valuable during a period that encompasses the Council elections and subsequent swearing-in of a new Council and the development of a new four year Council Plan.
\n\u201cI look forward to working with Anne and once again take the opportunity to wish Keith the very best in the next phase of his career.
\nDeputy mayor Clive Goldsworthy said Ms Howard was a great choice and had proven herself in previous stints as acting CEO.
