TORQUAY Lions have continued to find ways to serve the community despite lockdown restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic.
\nClub members have been using their numerous ties to the community to find avenues of offering help without breaching regulations.
\nA recent example was when an elderly couple got in touch with a Torquay Lions member and said their garden needed maintenance.
\nA few club members then went around to help prune and clean the garden.
\nTorquay Lions member John Bell said the club relished any opportunity they were given to help their community.
\n\u201cIt was a pleasure to help out.
\n\u201cBecause of the coronavirus restrictions, our Lions Club has not been as busy as we would like helping our community.
\n\u201cThis task was a welcome one, as we were able to distance according to the rules while we helped Frank and Yvonne by completing their pruning and some garden maintenance.\u201d
\n\u201cDespite the current restrictions, we are managing to complete some projects reinforcing our motto \u2018We Serve\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout their time under lockdown, the Torquay Lions members have also been helping maintain the grounds of Bellbrae Cemetery
\nThis came about as some club members are on the cemetery\u2019s committee of management.
\nRecently-appointed club president Bill Ferguson was involved in both projects and said he looked forward to the Torquay Lions having
\nmore freedom with their work as restrictions ease further.
\n\u201cPlanning for our members to become once again involved in the community, post-lockdown, is a priority as far as I am concerned.
\n\u201cOur Lions are hungry for work, determined to return to helping others, and looking for some younger men and women to join and help revitalise the club.\u201d
