margin-bottom: .0001pt;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">For the past nine years, the Surf Coast Century has seen participants begin the epic run from Anglesea, with the 100-kilometre course taking them across the coast and through the hinterland.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">About 1,400 people ran in last year\u2019s Surf Coast Century, with even larger numbers initially forecast for this year\u2019s edition.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">The run was scheduled for September 19, but has instead been pushed back to December 5.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">Rapid Ascent event director Sam Maffett said while it was disappointing news, he was optimistic about the revised date.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">\u201cWe held great hope for this event since the original onset of the Coronavirus pandemic, and we are absolutely devastated to make this change.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">\u201cWe know many participants have put their heart and soul into this race \u2013 as have we \u2013 and while we are all feeling considerable frustration, we\u2019re really confident about the new race date in December.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">Rapid Ascent is providing people who sign up for the run before the end of July with a care package that will include mental and physical training support, tips, and guidance, as well as a number of <\/span><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">exclusive sponsor offers and freebies worth almost $100.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">Maffet said the care packages would help participants adapt to the changed date.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">\u201cAs ultra-runners ourselves, we understand the major disruption changing a race date causes, so as some level of compensation for postponement we wanted to help runners keep a positive mindset, and adjust their training as we navigate this goal-post change.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm;
