{"id":39969,"date":"2020-07-16T00:13:03","date_gmt":"2020-07-15T14:13:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=39969"},"modified":"2020-07-15T13:10:35","modified_gmt":"2020-07-15T03:10:35","slug":"tennis-in-geelong-tennis-resumes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/tennis-in-geelong-tennis-resumes\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennis In Geelong: Tennis resumes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TENNIS Geelong\u2019s winter tennis competition finally got going on Saturday, July 11, after a long period of uncertainly as to whether it would actually happen at all!<br \/>\nTennis In Geelong\u2019s Phil Hunt had a good morning\u2019s travel, first calling into Barwon Heads for junior matches, where the \u2019Heads played Grovedale in grade 4 boys, while they tackled Wandana Heights in grade 8 boys.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_39971\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39971\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-39971 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/07\/alex-and-gr-1-girls-600x380.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39971\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Geelong Lawn grade 1 girls team, left to right, Shylah, Alex, Klara and Katie.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Then it was off to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geelonglawntc.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Geelong Lawn<\/a>, which was a hive of activity with a number of matches in progress, both on plexi and on the en tout cas.<br \/>\nAfter a brief spell for lunch, Phil arrived at St. Mary&#8217;s courts on Thomson Reserve, for what turned out to be a most entertaining senior match, with the home side taking on a determined Grovedale combination.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_39976\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39976\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-39976 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/07\/Lachlan-Lucas-Ilija-and-Jake-600x380.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39976\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Grade 1 boys, left to right, Lachlan, Lucas (Highton) with Ilija and Jake (Geelong Lawn).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Plenty of social distancing all round, no arvo tea for seniors, signing in, washing the hands &#8211; that\u2019s the new order of play, at least until this current situation<br \/>\neases.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_39977\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39977\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-39977 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/07\/st-marys-grovedale-seniors-600x380.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39977\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">St. Marys and Grovedale seniors show the meaning of social distancing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Can\u2019t keep the dedicated off the court though and they will all be there next week to play again in what will be a much-abbreviated season.
