THE Victorian Greens have called for transparency about what will be done about the asbestos that remains at Alcoa\u2019s Anglesea mine. In Parliament last week, it was revealed there is less than 26,000 cubic metres of asbestos landfill on the site. Greens environment spokesperson Ellen Sandell said the asbestos needed to be cleaned up at Alcoa\u2019s expense as part of the site\u2019s rehabilitation. \u201cAlcoa\u2019s exemption from freedom of information laws means the public is being kept in the dark about plans for the Anglesea site.<\/p>\n
The government and Alcoa are cooking up rehabilitation plans in secret.
