THE community has farewelled long-time servant of the Anglesea football and cricket clubs Brian \u201cEmo\u201d Emerson, who died earlier this month.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of people attended the service at the Barrabool Hills Centre on Friday, where friends and family described \u201cEmo\u201d as a man who loved sport, his family, his friends, and the Richmond Tigers.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his wife, Jill; his children Michelle, Jamie, and Alicia; and grandchildren Oscar, Archie, Elliott, and Pippa.<\/p>\n
\u201cI could stand here and tell you all the ways I love and admire Dad, but we\u2019d be here all day and all night,\u201d Jamie Emerson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe loved us with all his heart, as we loved him.<\/p>\n
\u201cDad was a man of decency, integrity, loyalty and respect, and these are all the qualities Dad showed us every day of his life.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a straightforward and down-to-earth bloke who asked for little from those around him but would always be the first one there to lend a hand.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Emerson\u2019s commitment to sport in Anglesea was recognised earlier this year when he was named one of only 10 \u201cSuburban Footy Superstars\u201d in a competition run by Gold 104.3 hosts Jo and Lehmo; an award mentioned during the service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
