A JAN Juc artist hopes her colourful piece of public art is inspirational and honours those who are fighting and have survived brain and breast cancer.
\nHyper-realism artist Kirsten Walsh was commissioned by Newtown fine art studio Bells Fine Art to paint the mural on the side of Bakers Delight in Geelong West.
\nThe mural covers 10 metres of wall and features three life-like faces: the pink muse depicting a woman fighting breast cancer, a green beanie muse depicting a survivor of brain cancer, and the face of a child, blowing a dandelion as a wish of hope for the other two muses.
\n\u201cI was so honoured to be chosen to by Bells Fine Art to do this mural. My work is super realistic, which was the style we felt would really speak to the community,\u201d Walsh said.
\n\u201cMy inspiration was to show the community how beautiful, yet fragile these brave women can be when fighting this insidious disease.
\n“The artwork depicts how, in the face of adversity and their own mortality, they can bring joy and happiness to all those around them.
\n\u201cI want these women to be a source of inspiration for other sufferers and our future generations that follow them.\u201d<\/p>\n
