PEOPLE considering running in the 2020 Victorian council elections are encouraged to register for an upcoming online information session.<\/p>\n

Run by the Municipal Association of Victoria in partnership with Surf Coast Shire council, the session will provide information about the enrolment process and local government.<\/p>\n

The Surf Coast Shire’s governance and infrastructure general manager Anne Howard said the session would also help people learn what being a councillor involved.<\/p>\n

“It will provide potential candidates with a helpful overview of the roles and responsibilities of a councillor, and how they are the link between council and the community.<\/p>\n

“Being a virtual session due to COVID-19 restrictions, we hope to welcome as many attendees as possible.”<\/p>\n

The elections will be held via postal vote on October 24.<\/p>\n

The online session will run from 3-5pm on August 13.<\/p>\n

People can register for the Zoom session by heading to cvent.me\/GVlyRQ<\/a>.<\/p>\n
