THE state government is helping the GMHBA Great Ocean Road marathon attract more visitors than ever before.<\/p>\n
Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney announced a $17,500 grant to help the GMHBA Great Ocean Road Marathon with marketing and advertising, so the region can welcome visitors from all over Australia.<\/p>\n
Some 6,400 competitors took part in the 2015 event, providing valuable opportunities for local small businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no better place for a marathon than the Great Ocean Road,\u201d Ms Tierney said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat better location to challenge yourself than along the stunning coastline? \u201cThese events aren\u2019t just great spectacles, they\u2019re big boosts to the local economy too.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are working hard to grow our calendar of events, because we know they mean a stronger regional Victoria.\u201d<\/p>\n
The state government will also invest $3 million to embark on an ambitious regional tourism marketing campaign, highlighting regional Victoria\u2019s treasures and showcasing our regions.<\/p>\n
