LOCKDOWN has not stopped the staff and students at Endurance Taekwondo from excelling, with the martial arts school achieving multiple podiums at the World Poomsae Online Championships.Based in Argentina, the championship tests competitors ability to complete certain Poomsae patterns.
\nPeople upload videos of themselves performing the assigned patterns and are then marked by judges on the accuracy of movements, speed and flow, power, and presentation.
\nEndurance Taekwondo head instructor Alistair Lawson participated in the event along with students Daniel Jenkinson and Khloe Pellow.
\nAll three enjoyed success as Pellow took silver in the Under 9 Girls category and Jenkinson claimed bronze in the Under 12 Boys.
\nLawson also made the podium, securing bronze in the Under 50 Male Black Belt category.
\nLawson said the competition had been a great motivator during lockdown.
\n“It was a fantastic competition and it gave us all the focus and drive we needed to keep training hard throughout the lockdown,” he said.
\n“I am very pleased with the results as my students have really stepped up their training and their hard work paid off.”
\nEndurance Taekwondo is currently running classes through Zoom due to Stage 3 restrictions.
