SURF Coast Inspector Monique Leffanue praised the behaviour of the community for complying with the Chief Health Officer’s directions over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Australian Defense Force personnel joined Victoria Police officers to assist in community safety patrols across the Surf Coast region\u2019s beaches, shopping areas and streets.<\/p>\n

Authorities issued no fines as community members responsibly made the most of the warm weather as the mercury peaked at 21 degrees Celsius in Torquay on Saturday.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cWe were pleased to see that everyone along the beach and in main shopping districts in the Surf Coast region were adhering to the Chief Health Officer’s directions, socially distancing and wearing face coverings on the weekend,\u201d Inspector Leffanue said.<\/p>\n

“We want to see this behaviour continue as we all work together to prevent the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice will continue its patrols along the Surf Coast region to ensure everyone does the right thing. It is crucial we all abide by these measures for the health of every Victorian.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Surf Coast Shire is in Stage 3 stay at home restrictions. People must stay at home except for the four accepted reasons (shopping for food and supplies, care and caregiving, exercise, and study and work). Face coverings are compulsory when outside the home.<\/p>\n
