THE countdown is on for one of the largest unique sculpture events in Australia; the 2016 Lorne Sculpture Biennale launches on 12th March.<\/p>\n
The Lorne Sculpture Biennale 2016 builds on the continued success of the previous exhibitions, showcasing the most innovative sculptors in Australia. It presents the \u2018expanded definition\u2019 of what contemporary sculpture is, and can be. 2016 showcases the sculptor as a storyteller and social commentator, reflecting the hopes, aspirations and concerns of a modern society.<\/p>\n
An event such as the Lorne Sculpture Biennale can break down barriers and build on a cultural experience in a variety of ways. It facilitates a fantastic opportunity to engage new audiences and enrich the cultural lives of those from many backgrounds and cultural experiences. Sculpture in the outdoors is for everyone and we seek to offer multiple layers of experience, which will help enrich audiences, expand opportunities for Australian sculptors and help build a reflective, creative and intuitive society.<\/p>\n
The multilayered art event will see the return of popular starring attraction, the Sculpture Trail, featuring impressive large-scale sculptures positioned on the coastline. Other highlights include a Small Sculpture exhibition of 40 works, Sculpturscape featuring the creation of sculptural projects live on site, innovative Performance Art, Education Program \u2018Sculptor in Schools\u2019 as well as a range of workshops and tours.<\/p>\n
New in 2016, Sculpture Trail artists will create a maquette (model) of their larger work exhibited separately in the Maquette Exhibition, while the Major Project Commissions will feature major sculptural projects employing a night time element.<\/p>\n
Art lovers, travellers and families across Australia are encouraged to visit the free festival, a must-see experience to add to the calendar in 2016.<\/p>\n
