THE Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has informed Barwon Health of a COVID-19 positive sewerage sample from Anglesea.<\/p>\n

Barwon Health began testing at the Anglesea Memorial Hall today from 11am-6pm for anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

“While the preliminary result may not mean there are currently active cases of COVID-19 in the Anglesea community, the Department of Health and Human Services has increased testing in the area with local health services and taken further wastewater samples,” according to a DHHS statement.<\/p>\n

“Residents of Anglesea and recent visitors who have even the mildest of symptoms are urged to get tested and isolate as they await their result.<\/p>\n

“The test result may be a result of someone with coronavirus infection who hasn\u2019t been detected through testing. It could also be because someone who has previously been infected is continuing to ‘shed’ the virus.”<\/p>\n

The Surf Coast Shire presently has no known cases of COVID-19, having recorded a total of 16 since the pandemic started.<\/p>\n
