\n\u00bb Reports of some gummy shark catches as well.<\/p>\n

TORQUAY<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00bb Snapper reports keep coming in from offshore
\n\u00bb Reports of some flathead being caught out wide
\n\u00bb Some reports of whiting in close
\n\u00bb Salmon are still around
\n\u00bb Spring Creek, bream as usual.<\/p>\n

QUEENSCLIFF<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00bb Snapper continue out wide off St Leonards, still whiting and some good-size flathead being caught, the odd gummy shark has also been reported
\n\u00bb Point Lonsdale pier is reporting salmon and the odd good-size trevally
\n\u00bb Queenscliff harbour has trevally and some small salmon
\n\u00bb in the bay, reports of some good-sized snapper catches
\n\u00bb Calamari are also being caught in the bight
\n\u00bb The White Lady is still producing some whiting and some good squid
\n\u00bb indented head is still seeing flathead catches as well as squid, snapper continue to be taken out wide.<\/p>\n

Every now and again, like most people, I manage to take a break.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Gold Coast is always a popular destination for us, with fishing usually high on the agenda.<\/p>\n

This time, however, was more about keeping my better half happy and doing the more touristy type of activities that she enjoys.<\/p>\n

However, as all fishers know, saying \u201cno\u201d to fishing is never easy. After having avoided fishing in Surfers Paradise and undertaking most of the usual tourism activities, some of them even on the water, but without rod and reel, I started to feel \u201creel\u201d withdrawal symptoms.<\/p>\n

So, after leaving Surfers we moved down to Coolangatta to avoid schoolies and to finish off the remainder of our holidays.<\/p>\n

It was here, while on a drive through Tweed Heads, Coolangatta\u2019s twin town, that I came across a different type of holiday, one I hadn\u2019t previously considered or even thought of before:<\/p>\n

Tweed River holidays.<\/p>\n

After being so well behaved on our trip, I managed to convince my wife that a small walk down to a small marina on the Tweed River wouldn\u2019t hurt and that there was no fear of me fishing.<\/p>\n

But of course, I was just lucky enough to meet one of the crew of Berger Houseboat Holidays, who had moored massive holiday houseboats tied up and open for inspection.<\/p>\n

The houseboats that we viewed were absolutely incredible.<\/p>\n

The Tweed River itself was so clear and so blue that the urge to fish was overwhelming.<\/p>\n

After explaining my passion for fishing and my admiration for their incredible houseboats, and telling them that I write a fishing column, I wrangled an introduction to the owner of Berger Houseboats.<\/p>\n

We had quite a chat about what they had to offer and what the river itself had to offer. It was killing me.<\/p>\n

But then they offered me a short trip on one of their vessels to see for ourselves what it was like first-hand. So how could I possibly refuse?<\/p>\n

So we boarded the houseboat for a nice leisurely trip down the Tweed River, and of course they insisted that we bring along a few rods and reels just in case.<\/p>\n

After cruising in the area where the houseboats operate, and seeing how clear the water was as well as seeing some fish swim by, they decided we needed to stop and wet a line. I wasn\u2019t one to argue.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for me the tide was on the run out and conditions weren\u2019t ideal, however, we did have a few good bites but unfortunately ended up coming up short. But by now I had certainly been tempted, and all I wanted to find out was more about these houseboats as I hope you do.<\/p>\n

After speaking with the owners and telling them how much I believe many of my readers would love the opportunity to not only hire but also enjoy their Tweed River Houseboats, they have agreed to come up with a surprise for you, my readers.<\/p>\n

So, all I can say for now is watch this space. If the photos I have been shown are anything to go by, these houseboat holidays would certainly be a holiday to remember.<\/p>\n
