{"id":4415,"date":"2017-12-07T18:44:30","date_gmt":"2017-12-07T07:44:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=4415"},"modified":"2018-01-30T18:58:50","modified_gmt":"2018-01-30T07:58:50","slug":"mo-bro-brady-runs-movember","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/mo-bro-brady-runs-movember\/","title":{"rendered":"Mo-bro Brady runs for Movember"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Surf Coast local Brady Curran, 29, will take Movember to a new level on November 29 when he completes a 42-kilometre trek along the Surf Coast, finishing in Torquay with a 20-kilogram clothes dryer strapped to his back.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brady, an Armstrong Creek HR coordinator, estimates the journey will take between 11-14 hours, and admits that while he has been carb-loading in preparation, he hasn\u2019t been training as much as he might like.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I\u2019ve moved to a new house or been carrying something heavy I\u2019ve always thought \u2018How long could I carry this for?\u2019 and I suppose the idea has grown from there,\u201d Brady said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve cleaned the lint filter out; after all, those 25 grams of weight could be the difference, and am working on a harness\/backpack contraption so that I can carry it on my back for the trek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI trekked the Kokoda trail earlier this year, so I am putting in a similar training regime to that, putting weight in a pack and walking up heaps of stairs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a big believer in mental strength and using plenty of heart to get things done, so unless I physically break a leg, I think I\u2019ll be able to finish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brady has been supporting Movember for the past four years, with his father as his inspiration, who took his own life when Brady was just 16.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Brady rode on a bike for 270 kilometres from Halls Gap to Torquay with a mate, in a 15-hour challenge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike most young Aussie men, I\u2019ve had my own battles, as have a number of my mates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes you don\u2019t know someone is struggling until they have one too many beers and break down, and you realise how bad they are travelling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To donate to Brady, head to mobro.co\/bradycurran.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Surf Coast local Brady Curran, 29, will take Movember to a new level on November 29 when he completes a 42-kilometre trek along the Surf Coast, finishing in Torquay with a 20-kilogram clothes dryer strapped to his back.
