MORE often than not, checking your letterbox results in money leaving our wallets rather than entering them, but Torquay resident Michael Sinnott got quite the opposite last week.<\/p>\n
Sinnott, who has lived in the area most of his life, was taken aback when he checked his mail to find an anonymous letter wishing him well, accompanied by a $50 note.<\/p>\n
Sinnott delivered parcels around the area over the past 18 months, but such is this difficult year, he is without work at the moment \u2013 making the gesture all the more touching.<\/p>\n
Sinnott said he just wanted to thank the generous person that sent the letter and said he was extremely appreciative.<\/p>\n
“I just really want to thank whoever did it and let them know it’s really appreciated.<\/p>\n
“This was totally out of the blue, I have no idea who it’s come from.<\/p>\n
“I have helped a fair few people around the town over the journey. I always try to do the right thing by people, but I have no idea who may have done this.”<\/p>\n
Sinnott, who hopes to return to delivery or warehouse work soon, said it was a nice change to see such a kind gesture among the negativity that has surrounded this year.<\/p>\n
“It’s a tough year, you turn the news on and it gets you down, so it’s nice to have something like this and let people know about it.<\/p>\n
“They certainly restore your faith in humanity.”<\/p>\n
As for how Sinnott is going to spend the money, he said he would treat himself with a nice meal, a couple of beers and maybe buy the pets something.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
