{"id":46500,"date":"2020-12-10T00:25:01","date_gmt":"2020-12-09T14:25:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=46500"},"modified":"2020-12-09T09:28:53","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T23:28:53","slug":"santa-stars-virtual-festival-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/santa-stars-virtual-festival-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Santa makes a last call for stars for the Christmastime Virtual Festival Night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Christmastime in Torquay Fun Virtual Festival Night 2020 premieres on Friday, December 18 at 7pm on <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/christmastimeevent\">bit.ly\/christmastimeevent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jolly old Saint Nick told us he wants to give everyone in town, including their families and friends around the world, the chance to be stars and share their pre-Christmas excitement in the event.<\/p>\n<p>The big worry was this year\u2019s annual Fun Festival Night of activities wouldn\u2019t happen, but all will be good with the aid from Connor Forsyth of Dapple Group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUsing design for social impact is an integral value of Dapple, and it\u2019s been great working on Christmastime 2020, as it provides needed community connections through shared moments of meaning; while supporting purposeful causes,\u201d Connor said.<\/p>\n<p>So, now it\u2019s time to focus, click and upload your pre-Christmas photos and videos to Christmastime in Torquay no later than the evening of Sunday, December 13 on <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/christmastimeevent\">bit.ly\/christmastimeevent<\/a> to be a part of this year\u2019s fun event.<\/p>\n<p>Some easy tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take your photos and videos in landscape format<\/li>\n<li>Get the family involved<\/li>\n<li>Share with family and friends overseas<\/li>\n<li>Get creative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Torquay Lions Club president Bill Ferguson said his club was very happy to facilitate the Christmastime in Torquay event&#8217;s financial co-sponsors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s been a tough fundraising year, but we are so pleased to help end this year and start 2021 on a very bright note. The annual event with its \u2018Tis the Season to Give\u2019 fundraising component really pulls the community together at this time of year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christmastime in Torquay 2020 is well and truly under way. John De Witt of the Christmastime in Torquay Association said: \u201cThe Quay neighbourhood\u2019s annual colourful street lamp holiday banners are up, homes are decked out, the roundabout entrance Christmas Tree is decorated with Santa caps and baubles with a brightly lit metre-wide star placed on top with great thanks to Santa\u2019s resident elves, Annette Hiscock and Gaye Slater.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kate Herford, also of the association, said: \u201cIt\u2019s so exciting to see Merrijingle (Merrijig) Drive growing even more this year. More houses are being decorated and lighting the night sky. Neighbours got together to craft lighted Christmas trees lining the street. Kids and kids-at-heart are welcome to make decorations and put them on their favourite tree.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Christmastime in Torquay Association has nominated three local organisations and charities that do amazing things for our community, receiving no state or federal funds, and really needing our local residents\u2019 financial assistance: Surf Coast Wildlife Rescue; Feed Me Surf Coast and Lions Club of Torquay.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s all join in our town\u2019s Christmas merrymaking and enter 2021 on a bright note. Look all around town for everyone\u2019s shared holiday cheer.
