LORNE’S main sporting pavilion is one step closer to receiving a $6.5 million upgrade with plans now available for public viewing and comment online.<\/p>\n
The proposed design includes a fully accessible double-storey building with updated amenities suited for broad community use.<\/p>\n
Stribling Reserve is home to the Lorne Football Netball Club, Men’s Shed and provides recreational space for the adjoining Lorne P-12 College.<\/p>\n
“These redevelopments will add immense value to Stribling Reserve as Lorne’s major open space recreation facility and community hub, with flexible spaces available for all,” Cr Gary Allen said.<\/p>\n
“It will truly be a centrepiece at the heart of town.”<\/p>\n
Stribling Reserve’s masterplan was endorsed in 2017 and is funded in partnership with $3.25 million from Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, a contribution of $2.75 million by Council and a further $500,000 coming from the community.<\/p>\n
Committee of Management chair Peter Spring says the changes stand to serve the community well into the future.<\/p>\n
“These plans have been nurtured in close partnership with our community,<\/p>\n
“Plans for the ground floor include change rooms and amenities for use by the Lorne Football Netball Club and college students, as well as rooms for umpires, first aid, an office, kiosk, public toilets and accessible toilets.”<\/p>\n
The new second storey will also feature a kitchen, new bar facilities and a function space including an adjoining balcony accommodating for up to 240 people.<\/p>\n
The redevelopment follows recent improvements made to the reserve with the resurfacing of the oval, electronic scoreboard, and a new netball pavilion to be completed by early 2021.<\/p>\n
“We are excited to be presenting these plans for viewing and comment and look forward to this community vision becoming reality,” Cr Allen said.<\/p>\n
Building of the main pavilion is expected to be complete by the end of 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
