AIREYS Inlet Fire Brigade has announced a new captain to signify a fresh start for the station.<\/p>\n
Following 11 years service as a fire fighter, 3rd lieutenant Adam Gilliver has been promoted to captain duties, taking over for David Morton who has retired from the position after 20 years.<\/p>\n
Brigade elections, scheduled to take place in May this year, were delayed by the pandemic.<\/p>\n
Mr Gilliver said he was pleased and humbled to take the reins from Mr Morton.
\n“I have certainly got big shoes to fill as I step up to be captain, but I know I have the support of a very experienced team,” Mr Gilliver said.<\/p>\n
“While David Morton is stepping down as captain, he will still continue to be active in the brigade.”<\/p>\n
Mr Gilliver will lead a new leadership team at the station, with Andrew Wilson as 1st Lieutenant and Training Officer, Paul Greene 2nd Lieutenant, Conrad White 3rd<\/p>\n
Lieutenant and Secretary, David Truman as 4th Lieutenant and Health and Safety Officer and Hugh Champness as 5th Lieutenant and Equipment Officer.<\/p>\n
According to Mr Gilliver there is much to look forward to.<\/p>\n
“It’s an exciting time for the brigade as we look to the future with new members, a new station on the cards and a modern fleet of vehicles,” Mr Gilliver said.<\/p>\n
“We now look to the fire season which has well and truly started across the state and a busy summer period on the coast. Our team is ready to protect our community and do our bit.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
