HELP across the region will be more accessible as the festive season proves to be a difficult time for many.<\/p>\n
The Give Where You Live Foundation has recognised an increase in financial pressures, loneliness, food insecurity, family violence and general stress that impact many especially over this period.<\/p>\n
With the added pressure of overcoming the affects of COVID-19, it is predicted to create a greater need for support these holidays.<\/p>\n
In partnership with Barwon Adolescent Taskforce (BATForce), Give Where You Live Foundation have created the “Holiday Help” service listing to ensure those who require assistance can get access to it easily.<\/p>\n
Chief executive of Give Where You Live Bill Mithen said the holiday season was extra challenging as many organisations that provided services were closed or working under reduced hours.<\/p>\n
Holiday Help aims to provide the contact information of crucial organisations who will continue to support the community over the New Year period.<\/p>\n
BatForce executive officer Leigh Bartlett said the new initiative was an attempt to make life easier for people in their time of need.<\/p>\n
“The Holiday Help campaign is critical for those across our community who may be struggling.<\/p>\n
“We hope by sharing this information widely, we can link people to help when they need it,” she said.<\/p>\n
Mr Mithen is urging the community to keep an eye out for one another during this time and to help out wherever possible.<\/p>\n
“Let’s make sure everyone in our community has access to the help and support they need this holiday season,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We encourage everyone to share the Holiday Help information on social media and through your networks and friends.”<\/p>\n
Holiday Help resources can be accessed online at the Give Where You Live Foundation website or by scanning a QR code on posters placed across the region.<\/p>\n
