The 13 stunning photographs were captured by local photographers whose work was selected via a public vote from more than 1500 entries.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s winning images capture the region\u2019s the natural environment, coastal outlooks, renowned landmarks, and standout events.<\/p>\n
Taking out cover image honours for 2021 was David McGuinness from Kestrel Media who impressed with his eye-catching aerial shot of Eastern Beach featuring the Carousel and Steampacket Gardens.<\/p>\n
The Clifton Springs-based photographer said he knew there was something special about what he was seeing through the lens that morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe bay was a deep blue mirror and the city was bathed in an orange glow,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI couldn\u2019t wait to get on my computer and look at the shots.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr McGuinness said he loves the unique quality of Geelong\u2019s waterfront.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe mix of different architectural styles and so much artwork thrown in, really sets it apart,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a dream location for both ground and aerial photographers and one I\u2019ll hopefully be shooting for many years to come.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow seeing one of them being delivered to so many homes is pretty cool.\u201d<\/p>\n
The calendar is distributed to more than 100,000 households and City of Greater Geelong CEO Martin Cutter said it was something for residents to look forward to each year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe images in the Geelong calendar never cease to amaze me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEach image showcases the unique aspects of our region, from Avalon to the Bellarine.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Cutter said the calendar shone a spotlight on what a beautiful part of the world we are lucky enough to live in.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can enjoy the spectacular views daily by hanging the calendar in the kitchen or study,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The exhibition runs until Sunday, February 28. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the exhibition will be spaced out within the library in order to reduce crowding.<\/p>\n
