The team of Herbalife cyclists that left Torquay earlier this year have announced their ride has raised more than $100,000.<\/p>\n
The 29 riders and 24 support crew taking part in the 2016 Herbalife Family Foundation Bike Ride started their 850-kilometre journey early on January 9 and arrived in Adelaide\u2019s CBD six days later.<\/p>\n
Torquay\u2019s Kevin Beale and Gail Bernard have been part of the ride, which raises money for the Herbalife Family Foundation and supports The Infants Home in Sydney, Lighthouse Foundation in Melbourne and Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in Perth, from the start.<\/p>\n
\u201cThree years ago Kevin came up with the idea to ride his bike from Torquay to Adelaide to raise funds for kids needing shelter and safety,\u201d Ms Bernard said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI laughed, thinking it was a dream. Yes, it was a dream and yes, he did it – along with a raised $13,000.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said 2015\u2019s ride saw 17 riders and 13 crew raise more than $48,000, while this year\u2019s ride had raised at least $103,000. former Herbalife director Leslie Stanford, who pledged the amount if this year\u2019s ride could raise $90,000.<\/p>\n
Ms Bernard said she proud of Mr Beale, as well as \u201cblessed to have shared this amazing journey with so many wonderful people\u201d.<\/p>\n
