VISITORS to Torquay\u2019s 4 Pines Brewery can now get their gear to help clean up the environment and a beer at the same time.<\/p>\n
The brewery in Surf City used World Earth Day (April 22) to officially launch the Take 3 for the Sea beach clean-up kits for sale.<\/p>\n
The $32 kits are part of 4 Pines\u2019 partnership with Take 3 for the Sea, and include the supplies you need to safely clean-up at your local beach, including a hessian bag, gloves, safety advice, all in a Take 3 tote bag.<\/p>\n
Every bag also includes vouchers for three 4 Pines pints (worth $36).<\/p>\n
The initiative is the latest environmental initiative from 4 Pines, which is also a member of 1% For the Planet and has provided $25,000 to help Take 3 reach its goal of removing 10 million pieces of rubbish from oceans and waterways this year.<\/p>\n
The brewer donates one per cent of its revenue associated from three of its beers (Pale Ale, Pacific Ale and Extra Refreshing Ale) to Take 3 and two other not-for-profit organisations chosen by 4 Pines staff.<\/p>\n
Chief brewer at 4 Pines Chris Willcock said the brewer had a long-standing focus on sustainability.<\/p>\n
“For us, it\u2019s about our quest to leave the world better than we inherited it. Encouraging people to take small actions like doing a clean-up with mates is a no-brainer. As a sustainable and community-minded brewery, being Take 3\u2019s first official beach clean-up kit stockist is a further step in the right direction to tackle plastic pollution,\u201d Mr Willock said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur venues have been plastic straw-free since 2016, and we keep implementing ways to reduce waste across our breweries and supply chain with the aim of becoming totally plastic-free and waste-free.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said there was \u201cno one hurdle\u201d to overcome to make this happen, but it was important to take and recognise \u201cthe small steps along the way\u201d.<\/p>\n
Take 3 chief executive officer Sarah Beard said her organisation was delighted to confirm 4 Pines as its official beach clean-up stockist in Australia and latest corporate partner.<\/p>\n
