{"id":51540,"date":"2021-04-29T00:30:26","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T13:30:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=51540"},"modified":"2021-05-19T14:19:19","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T03:19:19","slug":"wylie-robinson-win-urbnsurf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/wylie-robinson-win-urbnsurf\/","title":{"rendered":"Wylie and Robinson win again at URBNSURF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JAN JUC surfers India Robinson and Tully Wylie have won the respective women\u2019s and men\u2019s Victorian Open titles after a surf-off at URBNSURF.<\/p>\n<p>Due to COVID restrictions, the top nine surfers in both categories battled it out in a two-hour shoot out at the wave park in Tullamarine.<\/p>\n<p>Competitors were selected via results in the Phillip Island Victorian Open Round held in April, as well as three wildcards selected by application.<\/p>\n<p>Each competitor was given two hours of free surfing at URBNSURF, with all of their waves filmed.<\/p>\n<p>These waves were then judged and every competitor was given a score for their best left and right on both the wave\u2019s \u201cturn\u201d and \u201cbarrel\u201d settings, leading to a total score out of 40.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_51542\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-51542\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-51542\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/Untitled-design-20-2-1024x538.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/Untitled-design-20-2-1024x538.png 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/Untitled-design-20-2-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/Untitled-design-20-2-768x403.png 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/Untitled-design-20-2.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-51542\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tully Wylie scored 35.77 out of 40 in his two hours on the wave.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Both Robinson and surfers are proven performers in the artificially-made waves at <a href=\"https:\/\/urbnsurf.com\/\">URBNSURF<\/a>, as they are previous winners at Australia\u2019s first wave pool surfing event, the Melbourne Pool Party in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m stoked to take out the Victorian state title this year,\u201d Wylie said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a weird year, but it was super fun to get to surf at the pool for two hours and show your surfing in different wave settings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Robinson said the competition was \u201csuch a fun night\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s amazing to claim the Open State Title for the first time and to do it in a surf-off at URBNSURF makes it even more memorable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s results:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1st \u2013 Tully Wylie, 35.77<\/li>\n<li>2nd \u2013 Harry De Roth, 33.03<\/li>\n<li>3rd \u2013 Billy Harrison, 31.90<\/li>\n<li>4th \u2013 Joe van Dijk, 28.33<\/li>\n<li>5th \u2013 Bohdie Williams, 27.10<\/li>\n<li>6th \u2013 Todd Rosewall, 24.43<\/li>\n<li>7th \u2013 Willis Droomer, 23.63<\/li>\n<li>8th \u2013 Cahill Bell-Warren, 22.20<\/li>\n<li>9th \u2013 Hayden Forrest, 21.67<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Women\u2019s results:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1st \u2013 India Robinson, 34.40<\/li>\n<li>2nd \u2013 Sophie Fletcher, 33.53<\/li>\n<li>3rd \u2013 Sage Goldsbury, 29.53<\/li>\n<li>4th \u2013 Mia Huppatz, 28.27<\/li>\n<li>5th \u2013 Jessie van Neikerk, 27.43<\/li>\n<li>6th \u2013 Bella Wilson, 25.87<\/li>\n<li>7th \u2013 Lannia Fostin, 22.67<\/li>\n<li>8th \u2013 Lucy Naylor, 17.93<\/li>\n<li>9th \u2013 Emily McGettigan, 16.87<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JAN JUC surfers India Robinson and Tully Wylie have won the respective women\u2019s and men\u2019s Victorian Open titles after a surf-off at URBNSURF.
