ANGLESEA Bowling Club and Great Ocean Properties\u2019 Twilight League Bowls autumn competition has concluded with the champion\u2019s medallion awarded to the team \u201cInadequates\u201d, who according to organisers did anything but live up to their team\u2019s name.<\/p>\n

In second place were the purportedly \u2018aptly named\u2019 ladies golfers\u2019 team of \u201cShankers\u201d.<\/p>\n

Director of bowls, Leon Wilson, said the autumn competition was a lot of fun for the 18 teams who took part.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bowls League had many highlights none more so than Hat Night with many and varied interpretations of outrageous, funny and quaint,\u201d Wilson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew entrant Cal Walker stole the show with his three-hat combination which he rotated through the evening.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also raised money for charity and promoted the club as a community hub.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson said all participants congratulated the Anglesea Bowling Club and the volunteers on the conduct of the competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn consultation with the sponsors, in particular Paula Fowler and Jess Nowson from Great Ocean Properties, the bowling club conducted raffles and an auction, which thanks to the remarkable generosity of the players and visitors, raised quite a substantial amount of money for a local cause,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Fowler said it was all about connecting with the local community and having a laugh..<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat Ocean Properties<\/a> were thrilled to once again be the sponsor of such an important part of the local community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

According to Wilson, the club is always on the hunt for new members and welcomes anyone anytime to contact the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a relatively easy game that suits all shapes, sizes, levels of fitness and age,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLookout for advertising for the summer twilight competition that will come out in November.\u201d<\/p>\n

With winter approaching, the Anglesea Bowling Club\u2019s winter competitions of jackpot social bowls will continue on Mondays and Saturdays and the club would welcome new members and visitors.<\/p>\n

The club is available for hire for weddings, birthday parties and other events.<\/p>\n
