THE Torquay Boardriders Club has made a $5,000 donation to the Jan Juc Life Saving Club, with TBC president Harry Mann handing over the funds this week to JJSLSC president Aaron Green.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis donation is a gratitude gift to say thank you for making us feel so welcome, and solidifies the commitment to the partnership between our two clubs moving forward,\u201d Mann said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really excited by the growth opportunities this partnership opens for both clubs in the future and can\u2019t wait to continue working with the JJSLSC in the coming years\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mr Green has indicated that a portion of the funds will go towards expanding their training equipment, allowing for further training opportunities for both groups.<\/p>\n
In 2018 the two clubs signed an historic memorandum of understanding, setting the stage for a future of co-operation between the two clubs. With the brand new JJSLSC building officially opening in December 2020, the two clubs have carried through their connection through several collaborations.<\/p>\n
The TBC representative squad trained alongside the JJSLSC team over summer in preparation for the Victorian and Australian Boardriders Battle events, with TBC finishing 9th overall in the nation.<\/p>\n
Most notably, JJSLSC hosted TBC\u2019s inaugural “Rip Curl Pro from a local\u2019s perspective” luncheon. The event was a tremendous success for TBC, setting a record fundraising total in the club\u2019s 44-year history.<\/p>\n
The venue also served as the home for a TBC youth Mental Health well-being gathering. Providing locals with the tools and skills to look out for their own wellbeing and also their mates whilst bringing our community together to start important conversations to promote positive wellbeing.<\/p>\n
Both clubs are working towards implementing several overlapping junior development programs for the coming summer season and several larger scale community engagement opportunities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
