SCHOOL is very nearly in at Torquay Coast Primary School, with the finishing touches being applied to the education institution in Torquay North.<\/p>\n
The sign bearing the school\u2019s name has been dropped into place, and principal Darren Roskosch and interim school council members Emma Zahra and Kelsey Jamieson took a look at it on Friday last week.<\/p>\n
Mr Roskosch said he would take possession of the school early next year, with the first transition day for Torquay Coast pupils and families to be held on January 16, ahead of day one of term one on January 29.<\/p>\n
Torquay Coast Primary School will have a population of between 120-130 pupils and 13 staff, and the YMCA early learning centre, located on site, will offer before- and after-school care.<\/p>\n
He said the school on Stretton Drive was finished way ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had not one drama at all \u2013 the weather has been perfect in terms of growth, they haven\u2019t been held up by conditions at all, it\u2019s rained at the right time.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said being the first principal of an entirely new school was a rare opportunity.<\/p>\n
