We offer various looks and styles, utilising art from a combination of Australian artists and international illustrators, as well as our in-house designers. Not only that it is the quality of the textiles, expanding range of fabrications and recent inclusion of our own brand of sewing patterns.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_54113\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54113\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-54113\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/06\/Ij4Qaaw8_24435.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54113\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Since its inception in 2017, the textiles company has grown bigger than the founder, Nerida Hansen, could<br \/>ever have imagined.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Since its inception in 2017, the textiles company has grown bigger than the founder could ever have imagined.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unbelievable,\u201d says Nerida. \u201cWe have become a household name with a cult following and I would contribute most of it to 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like most businesses when the pandemic hit, there was a lot of uncertainty but it wasn\u2019t long until Nerida realised she was experiencing a whopping growth spurt due to people being at home and having more time to sew.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had to re-employ old staff members and employ new members,\u201d says Nerida. \u201cWe went from a team of three to 13, which is extraordinary!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow we have just had a fourth lockdown. I am more confident that we will be okay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the first lockdown, Nerida felt she had an opportunity to branch out of Nerida Hansen Fabrics and use her licensed designs for a more fun project.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_54111\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54111\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-54111\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/06\/kIRnUmCD_88965.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54111\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nerida has more than 40 artists on board.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>That she did and launched Future Folk Designs as the home of prints, decals, stickers and labels aimed at the young and young-at-heart.<br \/>\n\u201cIt helped that we also had the license to print the iconic and much-loved artwork by the late illustrator, May Gibbs,\u201d says Nerida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer characters bring a lot of joy to people. They are as adored today as they were when I was a child.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is trip down memory lane that adults can share with their own children and grandchildren.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Nerida has more than 40 artists on board with more on the way and their works are used across both brands, in some cases in return for royalties for each sale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love seeing our fabrics turned into a jumpsuit, cushion or bag or our decals in a child\u2019s bedroom,\u201d she says.<br \/>\n\u201cSome sewers are extremely creative.
