{"id":5417,"date":"2017-12-28T15:33:53","date_gmt":"2017-12-28T04:33:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=5417"},"modified":"2017-12-28T15:33:53","modified_gmt":"2017-12-28T04:33:53","slug":"shire-adopts-event-calendar-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/shire-adopts-event-calendar-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Shire adopts event calendar for 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Surf Coast Shire has finalised its calendar of events it will officially be supporting throughout 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Councillors resolved to adopt the proposed events calendar at their December 12 meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The 2018 calendar includes a framework which guides the shire\u2019s allocation of resources.<\/p>\n<p>The five Level 1 events have a budget of $5,000 and require significant input of staff time across multiple business units of the shire in their planning and delivery:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race Welcome Wave, on January 24<\/li>\n<li>International Women\u2019s Day, on March 8<\/li>\n<li>A Rip Curl Pro Civic Event, at some point in March<\/li>\n<li>National Volunteers Week, from May 21-27, and \u2022 White Ribbon Day on November 25.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Welcome Wave is noted as an exception, as it has been given $10,000 in funding.<\/p>\n<p>The six level 2 events have a budget of $2,000 and can be managed at a department level within the shire and in consultation and co-operation with other service providers or agencies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Australia Day, on January 26<\/li>\n<li>National Youth Week, from April 13-22<\/li>\n<li>NAIDOC Week, from July 1-7<\/li>\n<li>Seniors Festival, in October<\/li>\n<li>Children\u2019s Week, in October, and<\/li>\n<li>International Day for People with a Disability, on December 3.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The three Level 3 initiatives have a $500 budget, only need low levels of resourcing and may not require a significant event:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), on May 17<\/li>\n<li>Mental Health Awareness Week, in October, and<\/li>\n<li>Fire Action Week, in October.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The initiatives have been selected based on links to the Council Plan incorporating the Health and Wellbeing Plan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Surf Coast Shire has finalised its calendar of events it will officially be supporting throughout 2018.
