genU Respite can play an important role in helping carers look after their physical, mental and general health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n

genU offers a range of respite services for over 65s, from centre-based day respite, to overnight cottage respite in Ocean Grove.<\/p>\n

Respite is available on a short-term, ongoing or episodic basis, and can be tailored to individual needs.<\/p>\n

There are many benefits to respite apart from enabling carers to have a break. Respite promotes opportunities to create new social connections, embark on exciting day trips and social outings, and undertake activities of interest.<\/p>\n

Respite at genU is provided in a home-like setting, staff are in attendance around the clock to assist if required, and meals are provided at no extra cost.<\/p>\n

Corio’s Margaret Farrell regularly makes bookings with genU respite care at The Lodge in Ocean Grove, where she participates in cooking sessions, takes day trips to local attractions and enjoys a well-earned break.<\/p>\n

The dedicated carer said genU’s respite care staff always made her feel welcome.<\/p>\n

“They’re not like staff, they’re like friends that you can go down the street and have a coffee with,” Margaret said.<\/p>\n

Lara’s Veronica Shine said she enjoys social activities, painting, drawing and craft work through her respite services, and is always keen to catch up with her friends.<\/p>\n

“My daughter said I should go along to mix with people, I’m getting older so it’s not always easy to meet new people but from the day I joined, I loved it,” she said.<\/p>\n
