	{"id":55234,"date":"2021-07-21T04:15:45","date_gmt":"2021-07-20T18:15:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=55234"},"modified":"2021-07-14T15:47:15","modified_gmt":"2021-07-14T05:47:15","slug":"torquay-cc-womens-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/torquay-cc-womens-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Torquay CC needs a women&#8217;s coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Torquay Cricket Club has launched a search for a new women&#8217;s coach as it looks to build on a successful first two seasons of female cricket.<\/p>\n<p>The Tigers have been leaders in the formative years of the Barwon Women&#8217;s Cricket Competition, as one of only three clubs in the region to field two teams in the inaugural 2019-20 season.<\/p>\n<p>Last summer, one of those teams \u2013 Torquay Black \u2013 emerged as a premiership contender, finishing on top of the ladder before bowing out in a close semi-final.<\/p>\n<p>Torquay&#8217;s talented junior players also made an impact, with Georgie Mackay, Isabella Dunne, Tiahnee McGrath and Abigail Edwards all selected in Geelong representative teams.<\/p>\n<p>Torquay president Rob Dunne said the vacant coaching position presented an exciting opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The contribution our female cricketers have made to the overall culture of our club has been amazing, and we are keen to grow this further and support women&#8217;s cricket as strongly as we can,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a very talented group of players who are passionate about cricket and want to see our club do well. We&#8217;re looking for a coach who&#8217;ll strengthen our already positive environment and help take our teams to the next level.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Torquay junior girls co-ordinator Sarah Boak, who played in Torquay Black in 2019-20, said the playing group would be hungry for success in 2021-22.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re coming off a great season where we played well in the semi-final, but couldn&#8217;t quite get over the line,&#8221; Boak said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was really disappointing and the girls have been talking a lot in the off-season about how we want to come out firing this season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think that makes our club a really appealing place for a coach because the players will be ready to learn and determined to improve.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Most of all, the club is a fun place where new members are welcomed and there is great support between female and male players.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Anyone interested in the coaching position can phone Rob Dunne on 0413 405 399.<\/p>\n<p>Female and male players of all ages and abilities are also invited to get in touch about joining for the 2021-22 season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Torquay Cricket Club has launched a search for a new women&#8217;s coach as it looks to build on a successful first two seasons of female cricket.
