THE Surf Coast Shire is seeking feedback from property owners around Beal and Trebeck Courts in Winchelsea on a proposal to seal the two roads.<\/p>\n
The proposal follows a series of community meetings held in 2015 with residents that discussed potential options for the sealing of the unmade roads.<\/p>\n
A preliminary survey of 30 property owners received 16 responses, 13 of which expressed inprinciple support for sealing the roads. Under the proposal, the shire would directly fund $86,888 of the $201,478 cost with residents to fund the remainder through a special charge.<\/p>\n
use Beal Court, with about 100 per day using Trebeck Court.<\/p>\n
Following last week\u2019s decision to express an intention to declare the special charge, the shire will write to the 30 property owners providing an opportunity to make formal submissions on the proposal.<\/p>\n
Councillors will consider the submissions future meeting.<\/p>\n
Should councillors vote to proceed with the special charge scheme and sealing of the roads, residents will be able to pay the charges in instalments.<\/p>\n
Winchelsea Ward councillor Heather Wellington said the council would consider residents\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cInitial meetings we\u2019ve had with residents have shown mostly positive feedback about the proposal, but I\u2019d really encourage residents at all 30 affected properties to have a look at this and make a formal submission to council.\u201d<\/p>\n
Winchelsea Ward councillor Carol McGregor said the sealing of the roads would reduce dust, road conditions during particularly wet or dry weather.<\/p>\n
