<\/p>\nSCULPTORS from all over the Surf Coast and surrounding regions can finally show off their latest works, more than a year since they were originally meant to do so.<\/p>\n
The annual Recent Works sculpture exhibition is being held at the Eagles Nest Gallery in Aireys Inlet featuring 88 sculptures in a variety of mediums, shapes and sizes.<\/p>\n

A total of 45 different sculptors are presenting their work in the exhibition through until the end of September, with the majority residing in the Surf Coast region.<\/p>\n
Organiser of the exhibition and professional artist, Cinnamon Stephens, believes the Surf Coast region is one of the richest areas in the country in terms of the number of creative professionals that reside in the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe region is full of creative souls from art to writing to performance, that earn the majority of their income through their work,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s truly a credit to the Surf Coast Shire\u2019s art department, who has been very supportive with the Arts Trail and the different galleries around the area, so we are very lucky down here.\u201d<\/p>\n
It has been over a year since Ms Stephens originally meant to open this exhibition and while she is excited at the prospect of finally holding the event, she remains a bit hesitant that it might all end abruptly in the near future.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be honest, I am still holding my breath,\u201d said Ms Stephens after being asked how excited she is to be holding the event.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou listen to the news and hear about all these numbers in Melbourne, and I tell my husband surely we aren\u2019t going to be closed down tonight.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to say I\u2019m relieved and excited and all that, which I am, but I have this little twinge of angst so we really have to just celebrate when we can.\u201d

Although the majority of sculptors hail from in the Surf Coast, there are works originating from other areas such as the Bellarine, Geelong, Golden Plains, South Australia and even one art piece from New York.<\/p>\n
All visitors who attend the exhibition will be welcomed with a glass of bubbles because of the cancellation of the official launch event last weekend.<\/p>\n
The Eagles Nest Gallery is open Friday through Monday from 10am to 5pm.<\/p>\n
