A PAIR of events run by the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club will celebrate major milestones this year, with the Danger 1000 Ocean Swim turning 20 and the Bells Beach Cliff Run turning 15.<\/p>\n
The annual events will be held on Saturday and tomorrow (Friday) respectively, and raise much-needed funds to keep lifesaving services on the beach at Jan Juc throughout summer.<\/p>\n
The Danger 1000, held in the waters off Point Danger, has been run by Jan Juc SLSC volunteers since 1999.<\/p>\n
Jan Juc SLSC club president Aaron Green praised the 350 people that delivered the Danger 1000 Swim Series and the Bells Bash Cliff Run each year, noting that some volunteers, such as Steve and Jaci Jewson, would rack up 20 years of volunteering at the 2018 event.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a fantastic reflection on our club that we can have so many members give their time to deliver the events each year, bringing much-needed funds for our volunteer community service, and have fun along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Danger Ocean Swim Series has grown to be one of the biggest and most popular open water swims in Victoria.<\/p>\n
The event is held at the calm waters of Cosy Corner, protected by Point Danger, with three race distances available \u2013 500 metres, one kilometre and 2.5 kilometres.<\/p>\n
The Bells Bash Cliff Run is an eight-kilometre fun run or four-kilometre run\/walk from Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club along the clifftops to Bells Beach and back.<\/p>\n
The course takes runners along an undulating track between Jan Juc and the world famous surf break.<\/p>\n
Children can enter the Junior Juc Bash \u2013 an introduction to fun runs for children aged between 5-12 with a 1.5-kilometre run.<\/p>\n
