LIQUORLAND Australia has lodged an application to sell take-away liquor from a new store in Gilbert Street, Torquay.<\/p>\n
The application for the Vintage Cellars store, which is being considered by the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR), is for a packaged liquor licence at the building formerly occupied by Torquay\u2019s ANZ branch.<\/p>\n
The store\u2019s ordinary trading hours would be from Monday to Saturday from 9am-11pm, on Sundays from 10am-11pm, and on Anzac Day from noon-11pm.<\/p>\n
Vintage Cellars describes itself as \u201cAustralia\u2019s fine wine specialist\u201d, with more than 80 stores in the franchise across Australia selling wine, champagne, spirits and beer.<\/p>\n
The application\u2019s advertising period began on September 5 and will end on October 3.<\/p>\n
If the VCGLR approves the application, the Vintage Cellars store would be Torquay and Jan Juc\u2019s 20th outlet selling take-away liquor.<\/p>\n
The Torquay Hotel, Beach Hotel, Torquay Sands, Corks Crew Cellars, Torquay Golf Club, Mr Archer, Sou\u2019West Brewery, 4 Pines, Torquay Wine Store and Surf City Motel all have general licences, allowing alcohol sold to be consumed on-premises and off-premises.<\/p>\n
The two BWS stores at Torquay Village and The Dunes Village, Ryans Supa IGA supermarket, Liquorland Torquay and Aldi Torquay have packaged liquor licences, meaning alcohol sold must be taken away.<\/p>\n
The Sum of the Few, Bells Beach Brewing and Blackman\u2019s Brewing have producers\u2019 licences, allowing them to sell their own product to the public from their licensed premises for both on- and off-premises consumption.<\/p>\n
Torquay Bowls Club has a full club licence, meaning take-away alcohol can only be supplied to club members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
