THE next step towards the Anglesea Netball Club’s new clubrooms has been made following the public release of the rooms’ new concept designs and floorplans.<\/p>\n
Anglesea Netball Club’s new rooms were announced back in late August following the announcement of a $500,000 state government grant being awarded to the club as a part of the 2021 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.<\/p>\n
“It is a very exciting time for the club, which is the last sporting club in the Surf Coast Shire to get new clubrooms,” Anglesea Netball Club vice president Marianne Caulfield said.<\/p>\n
“This female-friendly sporting development will allow us to not only finally provide adequate facilities for our teams and visiting teams, but also provide opportunity to increase club use for diverse all-ability and community groups.”<\/p>\n
Many of the members at Anglesea FNC have been part of the club for a very long time according to the vice president and have seen the netball facilities gradually change from a shelter shed and now to an amazing building that will be not only an asset to the youth and the netballers, but to the whole of the Anglesea community.<\/p>\n
“Sporting clubs mean a lot to small communities,” Ms Caulfield added.<\/p>\n
“This new development will bring some excitement and hope to a small tourist-driven community that has struggled through the last couple of years.”<\/p>\n
The council made a significant financial commitment to the project given the Surf Coast Shire’s active involvement in advocating for the new clubrooms along with the club’s own contribution, which helped the shire attract the grant funding from the state government.<\/p>\n
“It’s something the club has been wanting for quite a while, so we had it ready to go in the project pathway pipeline when the country football\/netball funding opportunity came up,” Surf Coast Shire general manager for Culture and Community Chris Pike said.<\/p>\n
“It’s great that Anglesea FNC has been working towards a one club approach and a key consideration for this was increasing the visibility of the netball club and these rooms will be a big step towards this. It will be a great reward for all involved with the club.”<\/p>\n
Paul Weight from Groundswell Design and Community Development was a huge local supporter for the clubrooms who assisted in putting all the necessary information together to secure the funding, according to the Anglesea Netball Club.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
